Welcome from the Dean
The nursing profession has evolved over the centuries becoming a technically advanced discipline and body of knowledge. However, at the core of the nursing profession, people (nurses) remain the most critical component of nursing care. The Princess Salma Faculty of Nursing (PSFN) caters directly to the need for a formally-trained nursing workforce and is dedicated to excellence in executing this training process. Enjoying the patronage of her royal highness Princess Muna AlHussein, PSFN formally opened its doors for instruction in 2001 and graduated its first class in 2005. As faculty of nursing, we are planning to preserve the long-standing, time-honored traditions and values of AL al-Bayt University, while at the same time we are working to equip our graduates with the updated knowledge and training skills to meet the continues growing health care needs. The underlying philosophy of the faculty is one that views the nursing profession as a combination of core competencies and genuine sensitivity to human needs, emphasizing care for the well being of the community and population at large.
Recognizing quality instruction as a major goal, PSFN employed high standards for hiring faculty members. PSFN faculty have graduated from reputable advanced nursing institutions, in addition to their extensive clinical background, bridging the gap between theory and practice and offering a rich instructional experience. Our faculties are also selected based on their commitment to excellence in education and research. PSFN is committed to continual growth of its instructional and research capacity by engaging the faculty in challenging research projects and initiatives.
In complement to competent faculty, a sound curriculum of undergraduate education has been put together that serves our goal of producing a well-trained nursing workforce. The curriculum fosters critical thinking skills, research skills, soft skills, and educates students about best practices and their application. In the short time since 2005, our graduates have claimed their respected position in the nursing industry as soundly trained professionals and have proven to be assets to their organizations. PSFN is also taking leading steps to improve the accessibility of its programs by incorporating a Distance Education (DE) initiative that plans to offer courses online. The website is being updated to reflect the current offerings of PSFN and the necessary information for current and prospective students.
