Admission Conditions:

The conditions for admission to Al al-Byte University are as follows:

  • The student should have obtained the Jordanian General Secondary Education Certificate Tawjihi , or its equivalent. 
  • The principles in use at the Jordanian Ministry of Education are applied for determining the equivalency of Secondary Education Certificates. The University may add further conditions before determining the equivalency of some certificates.
  • The Jordanian General Secondary Education Certificate, or its equivalent should be in the stream that will enable him/her to enrolment in his/her desired specialization as follows:
    • The General Secondary Education Certificate - Scientific Stream is accepted in all specializations.
    • The General Secondary Education Certificate - Humanities Stream is accepted in  literature, humanities, economics, law, and social sciences.
    • The University Council of Al al-Bayt University may accept other streams of the General Secondary Education Certificate for admission in some of the University specializations.
  • The students are admitted to the various specializations according to their ranking in the Jordanian General Secondary Education Certificate, or its equivalent. A pre-set distribution determines admission to every specialization for students from other countries.
  • The average of the student in the Jordanian General Secondary Education Certificate, or its equivalent, should not be lower than the minimum level determined by the Higher Education  Council.
  • Students of all nationalities must pass an examination assessing the student's proficiency in Arabic. Students who do poorly in the examination are required to take intensive Arabic instruction before enrolling in regular courses.
  • Students of all nationalities must pass an examination assessing the student's proficiency in English. Students who do poorly in the examination are required to take a remedial English Course. Those who score 70% or higher are except from English 101.

Application Procedure :

Applicant for admission to the University should fill out  the appropriate forms issued by the Office of Admission and Registration according to the University regulations. Applications for admission must be accompanied by the following documents:

  • A certified copy of the General Secondary Education Certificate .
  • A certified copy of the General Secondary Education Transcript .
  • A certified copy of the Birth Certificate .
  • A certified copy of the Family Identity Card for Jordanian applicants, and a certified copy of the Passport for non-Jordanian applicants.
  • A certified copy of the Military Service Identity Card for Jordanians.

Degree Regulations and Requirements :

Students at the Bachelor's level are expected to complete 129 credit hours (c.h.) (except College of Nursing 132 (c.h.), the higher  institute of Islamic architecture/architecture engineering  165 (c.h.)) distributed as follows:
  • University Requirements (36 c.h.): general courses required of every student regardless of his/her specialization. These courses are listed below .
  • Departmental Requirements (87 c.h.) (except College of Nursing 93 (c.h.), the higher  institute of Islamic architecture/architecture engineering  126 (c.h.), Information Technology College 90 (c.h.)): these courses consist of the courses in the student's major and collaterals determined by his/her department.
  • Free Subjects (6 c.h.) (except College of Nursing 3 (c.h.), the higher  institute of Islamic architecture/architecture engineering  3 (c.h.), Information Technology College 3 (c.h.))
University Requirements:

All University students, regardless of their specialization, study the courses in the table below. These courses consist of the following groups:

  • University Requrments(36 c.h.):
    • Collaterals Supporting Courses (30 c.h.):
      • Group I: Islamic studies (15 c.h.)
      • Group II: Language Studies (12 c.h.)
      • Group III: Cultural Studies (3 c.h.).
    • Electives (6 c.h.) selected from one of the following groups:
      • Group IV: Islamic studies (6 c.h.) or
      • Languages studies  (6 c.h.) from
        • Group IV a: Islamic Languages. or
        • Group IV b: European Languages.

    At the Bachelor's level the passing grade is 50%. To graduate, the student's cumulative grade average should not be less than 60%.
