This study aimed to investigate the effect of using QuillBot application on 11th Grade EFL students? writing performance and their perspectives toward it. Participants were 40 students from the 11th grade joining writing lessons in the English language at Abu Huwaidi Mixed Elementary School. The participants were already divided into two sections by the school administration. They were also randomly assigned into two groups by the researcher. The first was the experimental group (20 students) while the second was the control group (20 students). The experimental group was taught writing skills using the QuillBot application, while the control group was subjected to study writing skills using the regular instruction method. Two instruments were designed for this study by the researcher. The first was a pre/post-test which was administered to both groups to determine the students? results in writing. The second was an attitude scale (questionnaire) which was administered to the experimental group only to discover students? attitudes toward using the QuillBot application in learning writing. Results revealed statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group and the control group in students? writing performance in the post-test (P. = 0.05), favoring the experimental group. Students in the experimental group expressed positive perspectives toward using the QuillBot application in their English writing classes. As a result, it is recommended to use the QuillBot application as an instructional aid in learning the skill of writing and its aspects |
