This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the 51Talk online platform in enhancing the speaking and listening skills of sixth-grade female EFL learners. The main goal was to explore students' perceptions of the platform and study its effect on oral language proficiency in comparison to regular instructional methods. A quasi-experimental design was employed, including two groups: a control group receiving regular instruction and an experimental group using 51Talk. Data collection tools included pre-tests and post-tests to evaluate speaking and listening performance, in addition to a structured questionnaire to assess students? perspectives towards the platform. The validity of the tools was ensured through expert review, while reliability was confirmed using Cronbach?s alpha coefficient, which indicated a high level of internal consistency. The results showed that the experimental group demonstrated significant improvement in speaking fluency, pronunciation, and listening comprehension compared to the control group. Moreover, students expressed positive perspectives towards the use of the platform, highlighting increased motivation, engagement, and confidence. However, some challenges such as technical issues and initial nervousness were also mentioned. Based on the findings, the study recommends incorporating interactive online platforms like 51Talk into EFL curricula to enhance language instruction. It further suggests that curriculum developers, educators, and policymakers provide appropriate training and infrastructure in order to maximize the benefits of technology in language education |
