تهدف هذه الأطروحة إلى تفحص تأثير مفهوم الشفاء للعلاقات بين الإنسان والحصان في رواية هامس الخيل لنيكولاس إيفانز (1995) وتعلم السقوط (2016) لآن كليرمونت عبر استخدام النظرية النفسية، وبشكل خاص مفهوم العلاج بمساعدة الخيل (HAT). وتحاول الدراسة الإجابة على التساؤلات التالية: أولاً، ما طبيعة العلاقة بين الإنسان والخيل في النصوص المختارة؟ ثانيًا، ما طبيعة الآثار العلاجية التي تخلفها الروابط على الشخصيات الرئيسة؟ ثالثًا، كيف تؤثر العلاقات التي تجمع Grace Maclean وAnnie Graves وTom Booker بــ (Grace Morgan?s horse, Pilgrim) في تشكيل أحوالهم النفسية بعد التجربة المؤلمة التي واجهوها؟ رابعا، ما طبيعة الروابط النفسية التي تجمع بين Brynn Seymour وحصانها Jett في رواية تعلم السقوط؟
وبالإضافة إلى ذلك، ستستقصي أطروحتي العلاقات بين الإنسان والحيوان، وذلك بالاعتماد على بعض الأطر المستمدة من النظرية النسوية البيئية الملائمة للموضوع. ففي كلتا الروايتين، تأتي العلاقة بين المرأة والخيل بمثابة أرض خصبة لمناقشة بعض طروحات نظرية النسوية البيئية. فعلى سبيل المثال، لقد تم تصوير شخصيتي جيسون لاندر Jason Lander في تعلم السقوط، وتوم بوكر Tom Booker في هامس الخيل على أنهما شخصيتان ذكوريتان منقذتان ومهيمنتان. تتساءل هذه الدراسة، عن طريق توظيف طروحات النسوية البيئية، عما إذا كانت العلاقات بين الرجل والحصان في الروايتين المختارتين تعكس العلاقات بين الرجل والمرأة؟ والأهم من ذلك، هل صورت الخيول والنساء على أنهن أدنى منزلة من الرجال؟

My thesis aims to examine the healing power of human?horse relationships in The Horse Whisperer (1995) by Nicholas Evans and Learning to Fall (2016) by Anne Clermont, by employing Ecofeminist Theory and Horse-Assisted Therapy (HAT). This study attempts to answer the following questions: firstly, what is the nature of the human-horse relationship in the selected texts? Secondly, what is the nature of the therapeutic effects that such ties have on the protagonists? Thirdly, how does the relationships between Grace Maclean, Annie Graves, and Tom Booker with Pilgrim (Grace's Morgan horse) shape their psychological state, following the traumatic experience they faced? Fourthly, what is the nature of the psychological connections between Brynn Seymour and her horse in Learning to Fall? Additionally, my thesis will investigate the relationships between man and animal, by relying on some relevant ecofeminist theoretical frameworks. In both novels, woman-horse relationships function as a breeding ground for addressing Feminist ideas. For instance, Jason Lander in Learning to Fall (2016) and Tom Booker in The Horse Whisperer (1995) are both depicted as saviors and dominant male characters. By using ecofeminism, the study asks whether the men-horse relationships in the chosen texts reflect the men-women relationships. More importantly, are horses and women portrayed as inferior to men? |
