Politeness Strategies in Advice Giving Used by Bani Hassan: Grice's Approach

تهدف هذه الاطروحة إلى تحيليل استراتيجيات التأدب في تقديم النصيحة التي يستخدمها بني حسن من منظورGrice وإظهار الاستراتيجية الأكثر استخدامًا. علاوة على ذلك، تهدف إلى إظهار أهمية استراتيجيات التادب في تقديم النصيحة للآخرين. تتكون عينة الدراسة من 100 متحدث من بني حسن، 50 ذكر و50 أنثى. يتم جمع البيانات باستخدام استبيان يتكون من 40 موقف حيث يُطلب من المشاركين كتابة إجابة (لتقديم النصيحة) لكل موقف. سيتم تطبيق نهج Grice (1987) لتحليل البيانات. وكشفت الدراسة أن هناك استراتيجيتين رئيسيتين يستخدمهما بني حسن عندما يقدمون النصائح لبعضهم البعض. هذه الاستراتيجيات مباشرة وغير مباشرة. الاستراتيجيات المباشرة أربعة. وهي استخدام صيغة الأمر، واستخدام صيغة الأمر مسبوقة النفي "not"، واستخدام الفعل "انصح" واستخدام التخفيف. واما الاستراتيجيات غير المباشرة ثمانية. وهي تشمل استخدام التعبيرات الدينية، واستخدام الأمثال، واقتراح البدائل، وإعطاء عواقب سلبية، وإعطاء نتائج إيجابية، واستخدام الإهانة، واستخدام السخرية، التأكيد، واستخدام المداخلة، واستخدام النكات.وعلاوة على ذلك ، أوضحت النتائج أن الإستراتيجية الأكثر شيوعًا التي يستخدمها بني حسن عندما يقدمون نصيحة مباشرة هي استخدام الفعل "انصح" ، في حين أن أقلها شيوعًا هي استخدام "التخفيف". من ناحية أخرى، فإن الاستراتيجية الأكثر شيوعًا التي يستخدمها افراد بني حسن عندما يقدمون النصائح غير المباشرة هي استخدام "التعبيرات الدينية"، بينما أقلها شيوعًا هي استخدام "النكات"

 This study aims to investigate the politeness strategies in advice giving employed by Bani Hassan based on Grice's approach and to show the most frequent strategies employed. Moreover, it aims to show the importance of politeness strategies in providing advice to others. The sample of the study comprise of 100 Bani Hassan speakers, 50 males and 50 females. The data are collected by using a questionnaire composed of 40 situations in which participants are required to write a response (to offer advice) in each given situation. Grice's approach (1987) was adopted to analyze the data. The results of the study revealed that there are two main types used by Bani Hasan speakers when they give advice to one another. These types are direct and indirect. The direct strategies are four. They include using the imperative form, using the imperative form preceded by the negative particle "not", using the verb "انصح" (advise) and using mitigation. However, the indirect strategies are eight. They include using religious expressions, using proverbs, suggesting alternatives, giving negative consequences, giving positive consequences, insulting, using sarcasm, emphasizing, using interjection, and using jokes. Moreover, the results found out that the most frequent strategy used by Bani Hasan speaker when they give direct advice is using the verb "advise", while the least common one is using "mitigation". On the other hand, the most frequent strategy used by Bani Hasan speakers when they give indirect advice is using "religious expressions", while the least common one is using "jokes"
