The focus of this thesis is on "Cultural Hybridity in August Wilson's Drama (Joe Turner's Come and Gone and Ma Rainey's Black Bottom)," as the title of the thesis indicates. As a paradigm for African American society, it places a focus on the cultural hybridity that exists among its members. In particular, the thesis delves into the meaning of the many literary gestures that are carried out by the characters. In particular, we will use Eliot's theory of cultural hybridity, which was developed in 1962. In order to further the inquiry, we are also going to take into consideration the works that Burke.(2009). has written on the subject of cultural hybridity. This study was conducted with the intention of shedding light on the disparities that exist within class structure by illuminating the relationship that exists between cultural hybridity. To restate, analysing the sexism that is prevalent in our society via the lens of Joe Turner's Come and Gone and Ma Rainey's Black Bottom may provide some useful insights on the topic. As a direct result of this, society is in a better position to recognise and battle the social injustice that emerges as a result of some people being categorised as being on a lower level than others. In a nutshell, critical textual analysis draws attention to cultural hybridity as well as social injustices done to specific groups in an attempt to spark resistance. The results of the research showed that each of the hypotheses was correct, and it accomplished its goals and objectives |
