هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى التحقق في اثر استخدام إستراتيجية القراءة المكثفة في تطوير الاستيعاب القرائي للغة الانجليزية كلغة أجنبية لدى طلاب الصف التاسع, تكونت الدراسة من 45 طالبا من مدرسة الذهيبة للبنين في مديرية التربية للواء الموقر في الأردن خلال الفصل الدراسي الثاني من العام الدراسي 2021/2022. تم توزيع المشاركين عشوائيا في مجموعتين: المجموعة الأولى احتوت على 25 طالبا واختيرت كمجموعة تجريبية وتم تدريسها الاستيعاب القرائي باستخدام إستراتيجية القراءة المكثفة, أما المجموعة الضابطة احتوت على 20 طالبا وتم تدريسهم الاستيعاب القرائي بالطريقة العادية.
قام الباحث بعقد امتحان قبلي وامتحان بعدي لتقييم اثر إستراتيجية القراءة المكثفة على الاستيعاب القرائي للطلاب. وقد تم إخضاع جميع المشاركين لامتحان قبلي في بداية الفصل الدراسي لتحديد مستوى الطلاب في الاستيعاب القرائي. عقد نفس الامتحان بعد مرور 8 أسابيع لجميع المشاركين لمعرفة مدى تطورهم في الاستيعاب القرائي.
أظهرت نتائج الدراسة وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية عند المستوى (?= 0.05) بين كلا المجموعتين في الامتحان البعدي للقراءة وجوانبها,لصالح المجموعة التجريبية.

This study aimed to investigate the impact of extensive reading strategy on improving EFL ninth grade students? reading comprehension. The participants of the study consisted of 45 students at Aldhaibah Secondary School For Boys at Almuaqqar Directorate of Education in Jordan during the second semester of the academic year 2021/2022. The participants were distributed in two groups randomly: group one consisted of 25 students which assigned as an experimental group and was taught reading comprehension using extensive reading strategy, and the control group which consisted of 20 students and was taught reading comprehension using the regular instruction.
A pre/ post test was administered to assess the impact of extensive reading strategy on the students? reading comprehension. The participants in both groups sat to the pre-test at the beginning of the semester to determine their level in reading comprehension. The same test was given to the participants after 8 weeks to determine their improvement.
The result of the study showed that there are statistically significant differences at ?= 0.05 between the means of both groups on the students? post reading test and its aspects, in favor of the experimental group.
Accordingly, using extensive reading strategy was recommended for its beneficial impact on the students? reading comprehension
