The primary concern of this study is to analyze the metaphorical expressions used to represent corona virus in the language of the press conferences and briefings by the former Minister of Health (Sa'ed Jaber) in crisis management center. In order to identify the most common categories of metaphors in the language and discourses of the Minister of Health and their discursive functions, the study is based on a corpus compiled from the press conferences and briefings of the Minister of health that covers the period between March 2020 and June 2020. Following the tradition of research on Conceptual Metaphor Theory, the analysis found that structural and ontological metaphoric domains are the most frequently used conceptual metaphors in the language of the former Jordanian Minister of Health on covid-19. Most of these metaphors are from the domains of 'war and conflict'. In addition, it is found that explicit metaphoric domains are most frequent than inexplicit ones in the language of the minister of health on covid-19. Sa'ed Jaber's metaphors are used to serve a set of discursive and pragmatic functions like warning and advising, simplification and explanation, reassurance and encouragement, and showing gratitude to the medical staff
