تزايد الاهتمام منذ نهاية الخمسينيات على المستويين العملي و الأكاديمي بدراسة العلاقة بين الإصلاح الاقتصادي والتنمية السياسية حيث سيطرت هذه العلاقة على عقول صناع القرار والباحثين على حدٍ سواء, ومع دخول ثمانينيات القرن الماضي دخلت دول العالم في تحولات سياسية و اجتماعية واقتصادية كبيرة, لتظهر مشكلة الدراسة الأساسية في محاولة للكشف عن طبيعة العلاقة بين الإصلاح الاقتصادي و التنمية السياسية من خلال استجلاء التأثير المتبادل بين مؤشرات قياس الأداء المتخصصة.
وتهدف هذه الدراسة إلى تبيان أثر الإصلاح الاقتصادي على التنمية السياسية في المغرب و الأردن, وتعالج الدراسة هذه القضية في ثلاثة مباحث رئيسية: الأول يتناول الإطار النظري لمفهومي الإصلاح الاقتصادي والتنمية السياسية, وفي الثاني يتم قياس مستويات الإصلاح الاقتصادي والتنمية السياسية كمياً عبر مؤشرات قياس الأداء المتخصصة, بينما يتم في الثالث فحص طبيعة العلاقة بين الإصلاح الاقتصادي والتنمية السياسية إحصائياً.
وتوصلت هذه الدراسة إلى أنه لا يوجد أية علاقة بين الإصلاح الاقتصادي والتنمية السياسية, لتنضم بذلك إلى كوكبة من الدراسات التي تؤكد الرأي القائل بضعف العلاقة المباشرة بين الإصلاح الاقتصادي والتنمية السياسية, كما كشفت هذه الدراسة عن أهمية عامل الإرادة السياسية كعامل رئيسي في سبيل تحقيق إصلاح اقتصادي حقيقي أو الوصول إلى تنمية سياسية مستدامة.

Since the late of the 1950s, there has been increasing interest in studying the relation between the economic reform and the political development on both the practical and the academic levels, this relationship has occupied the minds of policymakers and researchers alike, and with the advent of the 1980s, the countries globally were affected by major political, social and economic transformations, therefore the main study problem is to uncover the nature of the relationship between economic reform and political development by clarifying the mutual influence between the specialized indicators of measuring the performance.
This study aims to demonstrate the impact of economic reform on political development in Morocco and Jordan, addressing this issue in three main aspects: the first aspect dealing with the theoretical framework of the concepts of both economic reform and political development, In the second aspect, the levels of economic reform and political development is being measured quantitatively through a specialized indicators of measuring the performance, while the third aspect examines the nature of the relationship between economic reform and political development statistically.
This study concluded that there is no relationship between economic reform and political development, thus joining a constellation of studies that confirm the point of views that say there is a weakness in the relation between economic reform and political development, As well as this study revealed the importance of the political will factor as a key factor in achieving real economic reform or achieving sustainable political development.
