هدفت الدراسة إلى الكشف عن درجة توافر مهارات التفكير العليا في كتب الدراسات الإجتماعية للصف السابع الأساسي في الأردن .
ولتحقيق أهداف الدراسة قام الباحث بتطوير أداة الدراسة وهي عبارة عن قائمة بأهم مهارات التفكير العليا الواجب تضمينها في كتب الدراسات الإجتماعية للصف السابع الأساسي في الأردن. وتكونت عينة الدراسة من مجموع كتب الدراسات الإجتماعية (كتاب التاريخ، وكتاب الجغرافية، وكتاب التربية الوطنية والمدنية ) للصف السابع الأساسي في الأردن.
وقد استخدم الباحث أسلوب تحليل محتوى كتب الدراسات الإجتماعية للصف السابع الأساسي في ضوء قائمة المهارات التي أعدها سابقاً، وللإجابة عن أسئلة الدراسة تم حساب التكرارات والنسب المئوية للمهارات التي وردت في تلك الكتب فتوصل الباحث إلى النتائج التالية:
- إعداد قائمة بمهارات التفكير العليا التي ينبغي تضمينها في كتب الدراسات الإجتماعية للصف السابع الأساسي وتمثلت في ثلاث مجالات: المجال الأول مهارات التفكير الناقد وقد تكونت من (15) مهارة، والمجال الثاني مهارات التفكير الإبداعي والذي تكون من (10) مهارات، والمجال الثالث مهارات حل المشكلات والذي تكون من (10) مهارات.
- توافر مهارات التفكير العليا (مهارات التفكير الناقد ومهارات التفكير الإبداعي ومهارات حل المشكلات) في كتب الدراسات الإجتماعية للصف السابع الأساسي ولكن بنسب متفاوتة، فقد تصدر كتاب التاريخ المرتبة الأولى, فيما تلاه كتاب الجغرافيا في المرتبة الثانية, ثم جاء كتاب التربية الوطنية والمدنية في المرتبة الثالثة.
- جاءت مهارات التفكير الناقد في المرتبة الأولى من حيث تضمنها في جميع كتب الدراسات الإجتماعية للصف السابع الأساسي, فيما جاءت في المرتبة الثانية مهارات التفكير الإبداعي, وفي المرتبة الأخيرة جاءت مهارات حل المشكلات

This study aimed at revealing the degree of including of the higher thinking skills in the seventh basic grade social studies textbook in Jorda.
In order to achieve the study purposes, the researcher developed the study instrument which was a list of the most important skills of higher thinking that must be included in the seventh basic grade social studies in Jordan,
The study sample consisted of all seventh basic grade social studies textbooks in Jordan (History textbook, Geography textbook, national and civil education textbook).
The researcher used the manner of analyzing the content seventh basic grade social studies textbooks in light of the skills list he prepared previously, in order to answer the study questions the frequencies and percentages of skills that mentioned in these textbooks were calculated, so, the researcher reached in to the following findings:
- preparing a list of higher thinking skills which must be included in the seventh basic grade social studies textbooks which represented in three domains: the first domain is critical thinking skills which consisted of (15) skills, and the second domain is creative thinking skills which consisted of (10) skills, and the third domain is problems solving skills which consisted of (10) skills.
- The availability of higher thinking skills (critical thinking skills, creative thinking skills, and problem solving skills) in the seventh basic grade social studies textbooks but in different portions, so, the History textbook was in the first order, then, the Geography textbook in the second order, after that, the national and civil education textbook in the third order.
- The critical thinking skills came in the first order by its including in all seventh basic grade social studies textbooks, while the creative thinking skills came in the second order, and in the last order the problems solving skills came
