هدفت هذه الدراسة التعرف إلى صورة المرأة في محتوى كتب التربية الوطنية والمدنية للمرحلة الأساسية العليا في الأردن، من خلال تحليل محتواها، وتكونت عينة الدراسة من كتب التربية الوطنية والمدنية للصفوف الثامن والتاسع والعاشر. ولتحقيق اهداف الدراسة تم استخدام المنهج الوصفي (تحليل المحتوى)، واعتمدت الباحثة الكلمة وحدة للتحليل، وتكونت أداة الدراسة من قائمة مكونة من (43) فقرة موزعة على ستة محاور هي: الأدوار الاجتماعية والأُسرية، الأدوار الدينية والتاريخية، الأدوار السياسية والوطنية المعاصرة، الأدوار المهنية، حقوق وقضايا المرأة، والصفات الشخصية للمرأة.
وكشفت نتائج التحليل بشكل عام عن تركيز المحتوى على عرض الأدوار الاجتماعية والأُسرية وشكل هذا المحور النسبة الأعلى بين المكونات الخاصة بصورة المرأة، يليه على التوالي: المحور الخاص بالأدوار المهنية، ثم المحور الخاص بحقوق وقضايا المرأة، ثم الأدوار السياسية والوطنية المعاصرة، ثم صفات المرأة وشخصيتها، كما كشفت النتائج عن عدم تضمين محتوى الكتب للعديد من أدوار المرأة بشكل عام، بدرجة اقل من الأدوار الدينية والتاريخية والأدوار السياسية والوطنية المعاصرة، وعدم التركيز على صفات المرأة وشخصيتها

This study aimed to identify the image of women in the content of the textbooks of National and Civic Education for the upper basic stage (8th ? 10th grade) in Jordan using content analysis. The study sample consisted of all the target textbooks. To achieve the purpose of the study, a descriptive approach (content analysis) was used and the researcher adopted the word as a unit of analysis. The study instrument consisted of a list of 43 items distributed on six domains: social and family roles, religious and historical roles, political and national contemporary roles, professional roles, women's rights and issues, and the personal traits of women.
Overall, the results of the analysis revealed that the content focuses on the introduction of social and family roles, a domain that formed the highest proportion among the components related to the image of women, followed respectively by the domain of professional roles. Next came, women's rights and issues, and the political and national contemporary roles, followed, finally, by the traits of women. Moreover, the results also revealed that the content lacks many of the roles women claim in general to a lesser extent than religious and historical roles of political and national contemporary roles and tended not to focus on the characteristics of women and their personality.
In light of the results of the study, the researcher presented some recommendations the important of which are: focus on women's various roles, paying more attention to political and national roles and professional roles for Jordanian women, and focus on women's rights and issues. Recommended also is the involvement of female characters in the preparation of textbooks
