The Public Relations Department of AL al-Bayt University responsibility of the Public Relations Department to organise special events and scientific and educational activities, such as seminars, conferences, workshops, lectures, exhibitions, and meetings and overseeing preparations pertaining to the provision of a suitable venue and all audio/visual and interpretation equipment, microphones, etc.
An essential role of the Public Relations Department is to take care of the University's visitors from inside and outside Jordan and to organise their visit programmmes and meetings with concerned faculty and individuals on and off campus.
Preparations also include issuing entry visas for foreign guests; hotel reservation; meeting, seeing off and assisting guests at the airport; and organizing a cultural programme of activities for the period of their stay in Jordan that enables them to sample Jordan culture and civilization.
As for local guests, the Public Relations Department oversees the arrangement of their visit date, time, and schedule to the University, in terms of people to meet and places to visit, as well as all other details pertaining to their visit. While escorting guests, the Public Relations personnel brief them about the University mission, philosophy, programmes, etc, and answer the questions they may raise about various aspects of the teaching/learning process on campus. The department makes sure to present the University guests and visitors with the University publications and newsletters, in both Arabic and English. Visits by school students are on the daily agenda of the University. The Public Relations Department organizes informative visits for the young guests to introduce them to the various University utilities, and makes sure to answer all their questions.
Public relations and media relations are crucial in the image building of the University. To this end, the department coordinates efforts with media personnel to make sure that the University news are adequately covered in all audio and visual forms of media reporting. Coverage includes news releases and feature articles; newsletters; radio and television interviews and reports; press conferences; sponsorship of special events/grand openings; seminars; brochures, and slide or videotape presentations. The department documents these releases in a small pamphlet, on daily basis, and distributes copies to key personnel at the University.
At the same time, it is the responsibility of the Department of Public Relations to follow up on the implementation of agreements of academic and cultural cooperation reached between the University and counterpart universities inside and outside Jordan and to maintain links with these universities via faculty, student, and publication exchanges. The Department makes sure that all Arab and foreign institutions that have links with the University, receive, on continuous basis, the University newsletters, in-house magazines, pamphlets and brochures.
The Department of Public Relations is in charge of the production of a bilingual periodic cultural and social magazine that carries the name, Al-Zahra'.
