1- course objectives :
This
course is designed to refresh students knowledge in
English through interesting and up-to-date topics using authentic texts and
pertaining to the life of young adults at the University level. The course
focuses on the four skills and encourages students to recycle grammar points
and vocabulary items studied through out the course. This course teaches
general English at the pre-intermediate to intermediate level.
2- The syllabus:
This course
includes 14 units each focusing on one major topic and every two units are
followed by a revision section that includes a
language check and extra training. As well, each unit is divided into five
sections: grammar, vocabulary, reading and writing, listening and speaking and
pronunciation. Within each unit a central topic is approached from a variety of
interesting angles, with the result that students learn about the real world
and are encouraged to contribute from their own experience, opinions and
feelings. Plenty of conversations, dialogues and other activities are used to
reinforce the communicative approach.
